You Are The Only One Who Can Alter Reality For Your Own Betterment (A Prose Poem)

If others belittle you for having a passion and a purpose in life besides scrambling around for survival, they’re probably making excuses for you and listing all the things you can’t do because you’re a certain way. “You can’t do this because of this…you can’t do this because of that…You don’t deserve this…you don’t deserve that.” Your identity is not static, and your oppression is not the epilogue of your story.
Enough with the excuses. They aren’t even your own. They are filled with loathing, envy, judgment, and every toxic Tribalist thought that’s been indoctrinating humanity for centuries. It’s the 21st century and though the future is wrought with anguish and bleakness, and people are more desperate than ever, it is also a more breathtaking time than any time in history — it’s filled with opportunities for those who are ready to go all in and pursue them with the intent of bestowing every gift they’ve sharpened and polished to be prepared for the moment that will shape the course of their lives for the greater good.
But that only happens when you release everything you’ve been clenching with your fists all these years, out of the false hope that you can hold onto what isn’t yours just to appease the ones who torture you by pounding harsh realities through your skull, as if your life depends on remaining powerless and leaving your fate in the hands of those who would so easily crush it and mutilate it until it fits their liking. Maybe reclaiming your power won’t be as soon or as instantaneous as you’d like it, but it sure will be faster than remaining stagnant and being so certain that nothing will change.
Nobody owes you a life of personal excellence. It’s something you craft for yourself, through trial after trial, through many storms brewing overhead with no sunlight, but in the end, you’ll be so much more than a victor, you’ll be the highly evolved master of your inner self, and by then, no circumstance can steal that away from you.
