About Lark Morrigan
Hello. I’m Lark Morrigan. I’m glad you are here.
As a poet and writer, I’m currently in the stage where I’m just trying to put myself out there, prove to myself that I can overcome debilitating self-doubt, and become a better poet and writer than I was when I started out — nothing more but certainly nothing less.
I don’t have a niche and don’t see why I should box myself in by picking one. Most of the time, I write poetry and self-reflective musings on personal growth and mental health. I am simply here to express myself creatively and cultivate my own style and voice as a writer.
But who am I really? That’s something I can’t exactly define or am crystal clear about 100% of the time, which is why I find value in personal writings — the act of writing out anything I’m feeling and processing in the moment and turning abstract thoughts and images into words that resonate with readers in order to make them feel like someone out there gets what they are going through. It can help to know more about who you are and identify what you want to become.
You’ll notice I write a lot about self-worth and am pretty open about inner tension, neuroticism, and the desire to be more than what naysayers have said I could ever amount to. I’m not afraid to delve deeper into darker emotions because I find that articulating them is far more conducive to personal growth than simply repressing them or pretending that their existence doesn’t affect me.
I find that reading other people’s personal essays helps me make sense of my own struggles, so I hope to do the same for readers.
